Artist VickiLee celebrated the opening of her first gallery space in Surry Hills on Thursday night. Cool kids of art and fashion includingYanYan Chan, Nathan Jolliffe, Sarah-Jane Clarke, Marc Freeman, Claire Tregoning and Dion Antony were among the guests. However, a notable absence was Lee’s longtime bestie, model Lara Worthington, leaving guests wondering, ‘‘Where the bloody hell is Lara?’’ Lee’s solo exhibition, Eonia, took over the gallery’s first floor, while the lower level was filled with her covetable floral work created in collaboration with her partner in art and life TedO’Donnell. For the first time, the duo’s work was seen in motion with a mesmerising projection in the back room– the highlight of the evening. The gallery will show new exhibitions regularly, with pieces from Lee’s archive including nudes and sculptures. After the Wine by DRNKS, YoungHenry’s beer and Perrier ran dry at 8pm, most of the party decamped to the Dolphin Hotel. Keeping the Splendour in the Grass holiday vibe going, Sydney media, tastemakers and fashion stylists descended on the A+H Salon in Newtown on Monday to preview resort collections from the Electric Collective stable of fashion clients. Ali Smyth and Adriana Glass, the brains behind Electric Collective, were the first fashion PR in Sydney not to have a showroom, opting instead for group showings and sending lookbooks via email.
